On the Lighter Side of Things
If spontaneous dancing to energetic top forty music while making toot noises with a straw tucked into my armpits was a high-paying profession, I would be a multi-millionaire. Instead, I enjoy making the nurses I work with laugh, because we would cry from the stress. I am passionate about creating an environment where my coworkers feel seen, heard and loved. Let’s face it, we all could use more of that. And occasionally I bring irresistible baked goods — days, long past, of being the room mom.
On the Darker Side of Things
I have held the hands of strangers as they take their last breath. I have traveled the country caring for the gravely ill during Covid. And today, I continue to marvel at the human spirit amid unspeakable traumas.
I have worked in cardiothoracic surgical step-down, non-invasive cardiology, and currently in the post anesthesia care unit (PACU). This is where I see, in some cases, the full circle results of my patients having ignored the signs and symptoms the body displays to prompt personal change.
On the In Between
I found the grit and determination over a decade ago to complete my nursing degree while raising three teenagers. I have, through trial and error, discovered how to empathetically communicate with patients about necessary life changes with wonderful results. It's an accomplishment that has opened the door to my coaching business: Mind – Growth – Reset. What you will get from me is compassion and honesty and results. What you won’t get from me is a lecture.
